It was great to see Tom Sizemore out of jail and acting. He looked great with his dyed hair, and with a little weight. Hopefully his meth addiction will remain under control. I also hope they find a way to make his sleazy PI a reoccurring character, he was fully enjoyable as a villain.
There were actually some very accurate aspects to this episode:
1) The GSR on the shooters hand would in fact be removed by simply washing his hands. I was surprised they pointed that out.
2) The bullet hole in the windshield of the car being farther up the windshield than one would expect. I’m not sure if it wasn’t over exaggerated, but there is a slight downward deflection of projectiles when they perforate laminated windshield glass.
There was one aspect I wasn’t sure about:
1) The GSM (gun shot mist) test utilizing liquid nitrogen leading to photo luminescent antimony and barium. Never heard of this, and I’m not the only firearm examiner who hasn’t. I’ll have to keep an eye out for a paper on this technique.
The part of the show that even my wife laughed at:
1) When Det. Sgt. Tripp picked up the suspect’s Beretta pistol without gloves on. My wife said “At least on the Vegas show they are pretty good about wearing gloves.”
2) The high-tech see-through computer screens now in the crime scene vans, let alone the super crazy multi-touch table top computers they have in their lab.
The part of the show that disappointed me the most was the lack of Lt. Horatio Caine. Him and his patented way of delivering cheesy lines is what makes this show stand out from the other CSI flavors. See what I mean:
