Say what you will about Wisconsin Governor Walker and his methods for trying to get the state budget under control, but he doesn’t seem willing to hamstring the State Crime Lab.
Walker’s 2011–13 budget also would grant the state Department of Justice additional money for the state Crime Laboratory and to boost Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen’s initiative to prosecute online sexual predators. No specific dollar figures were immediately available.
“We will provide additional resources and positions in our DNA lab to assist our criminal investigations,” Walker said in a statement released before his budget address. “And we will make sure that our children … are protected from those who would do them harm.”
