San Francisco is shelving the idea of moving the crime lab out of the police department. The reason stated is not only do they plan on moving the lab out of the police department figuratively, they also want to move it out literally — as in build a new crime lab.

San Francisco supervisors on Monday slowed down a proposal to transfer control of the city’s crime lab from the Police Department to the Office of the City Administrator but said the idea is not dead.
