SANTA CLARA COUNTY (KCBS) — A cracked seal in a rooftop pump has made a giant mess of Santa Clara County’s new $75 million crime lab.
Santa Clara County District Attorney Dolores Carr said she doesn’t believe any evidence was compromised, but there was a lot of damage.
“There was extensive damage in the crime lab. It’s my understanding that the cost will be somewhere around $600,000 to make those repairs,” Carr said. “The county is in discussions with the builder to make the repairs.”
The lab, which has been open for just four months, was inundated with water over the weekend after a broken pump sent water cascading down through all four floors of the building.
The repair work is expected to continue for six to eight weeks.
