Erik Brown is a forensic scientist, expert witness, educator, and consultant with more than 27 years of practical forensic science experience involving criminal and civil litigation. He is the founder of Forensics Guy, Inc., a forensic consulting practice providing expert witness testimony, scientific evidence review, and litigation support for attorneys and legal teams throughout the United States.
Mr. Brown has extensive experience involving forensic toxicology, alcohol impairment, DUI investigations, dram shop litigation, drug related human performance, firearms identification, shooting reconstruction, and scientific evidence analysis. His work includes consultation in both criminal and civil matters, with experience assisting attorneys in evaluating complex forensic evidence, preparing for deposition and trial, and communicating scientific findings clearly and effectively to judges and juries.
Prior to founding Forensics Guy, Inc., Mr. Brown served as a criminalist with the City of Chandler and City of Phoenix Police Departments, where his work focused primarily on forensic alcohol analysis, firearms identification, and controlled substances. Throughout his career, he has regularly testified as an expert witness in courts throughout Arizona and much of the southwest and has participated in numerous high-profile and complex forensic investigations.
In addition to active case consultation, Mr. Brown serves as a professor within Arizona State University’s School of Interdisciplinary Forensics, where he teaches courses involving forensic science, crime scene investigation, courtroom testimony, ethics, toxicology, and evidence interpretation. His educational work emphasizes practical application, scientific defensibility, and effective communication of technical evidence.
